SUPPLEMENTAL SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT FOR TOPICAL REPORT APR1400-K-Q-TR-11005-NP, REVISION 5, "KHNP QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM DESCRIPTION FOR THE APR1400 DESIGN CERTIFICATION By letter dated May 2, 2016, Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Co. Ltd (KHNP) submitted Revision 5 of Topical Report (TR) APR1400-K-Q-TR-11005-NP to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff for review and approval. APR1400-K-Q-TR-11005-NP, Revision 5 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML16123A404) contained minor revisions to reflect organizational changes within KHNP to support APR1400 Design Certification (DC) project efficiency.
By letter dated October 28, 2013 (ADAMS Accession No. ML13302A142), KHNP submitted TR APR1400-K-Q-TR-11005-NP entitled, "KHNP Quality Assurance Program Description (QAPD) for the APR1400 Design Certification, Revision 3, to the NRC staff. By letter dated January 6, 2014, the NRC staff requested additional information on the KHNP TR, Revision 3 (ADAMS Accession No. ML14083A610). KNHP responded to the NRCs request for additional information with letter dated March 26, 2014 (ADAMS Accession No. ML14085A096) and submitted TR APR1400-K-Q-TR-11005-NP, KHNP Quality Assurance Program Description (QAPD) for the APR1400 Design Certification, Revision 4, to the NRC staff for review. The NRC staff reviewed and approved TR APR1400-K-Q-TR-11005-NP, Revision 4 in letter dated April 30, 2014 (ADAMS Accession No. ML14114A464).

J.Ciocco The NRC staff has reviewed APR1400-K-Q-TR-11005-NP, Revision 5 and has found that it is acceptable for use by KHNP for the AP1400 DC activities. The NRC staff confirmed that the changes incorporated into PR1400-K-Q-TR-11005-NP, Revision 5 were administrative in nature and do not constitute a reduction in commitment from the previous NRC-approved version of APR1400-K-Q-TR-11005-NP. Our acceptance applies only to material provided in the subject TR, and not the APR1400 DC submittal. The NRC staff requires that KHNP update the reference revision number in the Design Control Document (DCD), Chapter 17.5, Quality Assurance and Reliability Assurance in the future revision of the DCD.
