ADVANCED POWER REACTOR 1400 DESIGN CERTIFICATION APPLICATION - SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION FOR SAFETY EVALUATION WITH NO OPEN ITEMS FOR CHAPTER 14.3, INSPECTIONS, TESTS, ANALYSES AND ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA (ITAAC)
By letter dated December 23, 2014, Korea Electric Power Corporation and Korea Hydro &
Nuclear Power Co. (KHNP), Ltd., submitted an application for a design certification of the Advanced Power Reactor 1400 (APR1400) Standard Design. On March 10, 2017, KHNP submitted Revision 1 to the APR1400 design certification application. On March 8, 2018, KHNP submitted a subsequent letter transmitting Revision 2 to the APR1400 design certification application.
Based on our review of the application, the staff provided the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) its safety evaluation (SE) with no open items (OIs) for Section 14.3, Inspections, Tests, Analyses, and Acceptance Criteria (ITAAC), in Chapter 14, Verification Programs, (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession Numbers ML18054A687 and ML18149A547). The SE with no OIs for Chapter 14, Section 14.3 contains references to other SER chapters for the ITAAC evaluations. The attached ITAAC Evaluation Cross Reference Table lists for each ITAAC table, the SER section(s) containing the evaluation of the ITAAC. For those SER sections not in Section 14.3, this table also includes the text in the referenced SER section. The text in these referenced sections have been updated from the Phase 4 versions of these chapters previously provided to the ACRS.
Therefore, this table is being provided to the ACRS as additional supplementary information to support the review of SER Section 14.3 on June 19, 2018.
The staff concludes that the table does not contain any information exempt from public disclosure. However, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission will withhold the table from public disclosure for ten business days to allow KHNP the opportunity to verify the staffs conclusion that the SE contains no such exempt information. Therefore, the staff requests that the ACRS withhold the table from public disclosure until the information has been released publicly in ADAMS.
