I am responding to your letter dated May 17, 2018, which requested that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approve a new Truck Route designated as No. 261 for transporting spent nuclear fuel from LaSalle County Nuclear Generating Station to Port Huron, Michigan Port of Exit.
The NRC has reviewed your application and concluded that the information you provided on May 17, 2018, satisfies the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Section 73.37. This letter constitutes approval. The approved route is now designated as Truck Route No. 261 and will expire September 30, 2023. The NRC expects your periodic review and update of the emergency phone numbers associated with this route. Changes to emergency contact numbers do not qualify as a route deviation or change. You are reminded that prior to the movement of spent nuclear fuel, a 10-day advance notification to the NRC and the States is required by Section 73.37 Paragraph (b)(2), Advance notifications and notification to each participating Tribe is required as referenced in Paragraph 71.97(a)(1)(2).
