-UP LETTER FOR POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2

Dear Mr. Meyer:

As a result of its continuous review of plant performance, which was concluded on April 11 , 2013, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) updated its assessment of Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2. The NRC's evaluation consisted of a review of performance indicators and inspection results. This letter informs you of the NRC's assessment of your facility. This letter supplements, but does not supersede, the annual assessment letter issued on Marc h 4, 201 3. After reviewing Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2, performance in addressing the White finding subject of this Inspection Procedure 9500 1, "Supplemental Inspection for One or Two White Inputs in a Strategic Performance Area," the NRC concluded your actions met the objectives of the inspection as documented in Inspection Reports (IRs) 05000266/201 3 503 and 05000301/2013 503. The finding, which occurred in the second quarter of 2012, was assessed in NRC IRs 05000266/2012504 and 05000301/2012504. Therefore, in accordance with the guidance in Inspection Manual Chapter (IMC) 0305, "Operating Reactor Assessment Program," the White finding (05000266/201 2503-01 and 05000301/2012503

-01) will only be considered in assessing plant performance for a total of four quarters and is closed. As a result, the NRC determined the performance at Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Unit 2, to be in the Licensee Response Column of the ROP Action Matrix as of April 1, 2013. This finding is also closed for Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Unit 1; however, Unit 1 will remain in the Regulatory Response Column of the ROP Action Matrix due to a greater

-than-green inspection finding from the fourth quarter of 2012, as documented in Inspection Report 05000266/2012010. In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC

's "Rules of Practice

," a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's document system (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading
