Docket: 50-482: Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation's (WCNOC's) Twenty-Day Response to NRC Issuance of Order For Interim Safeguards and Security Compensatory Measures for Wolf Creek Generating Station, Unit 1 Gentlemen:

The Reference issued a U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Order to Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation (WCNOC) that modifies the current operating license for Wolf Creek Generating Station, Unit 1. The Order was effective immediately and requires compliance with specific interim safeguards and security compensatory measures as stated in to the Order.

The Order requires a twenty-day response. Attachment 1 to this letter provides the twenty-day response for WCNOC. Attachment 2 provides a list of the commitments contained in this letter. (Safeguards Information) is a description of the actions being taken by WCNOC to comply with the Order.

In a few instances we are unable to complete the necessary evaluations to determine what actions are appropriate and what an appropriate schedule for implementation would be within SAFEGUARDS INFORMATION When separated from Attachment 3, this letter including Attachment I and Attachment 2 are Decontrolled.

i WM 02-0012 Page 2 of 2 the required response time. WCNOC's request for additional time to submit an answer or request a hearing for items B.2.a.(1), B.2.a.(2), and B.2.b is detailed in letter WM 02-0015, dated March 14, 2002, from 0. L. Maynard, WCNOC, to S. J. Collins, USNRC.

This response is hereby submitted to the Commission in accordance with 10CFR50.4.
