Docket No. 50-482: Change to an Essential Service Water System Water Hammer Mitigation Commitment (NEI) 99-04, "Guidelines Managing NRC Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) 1 Nuclear 35, which contained a closure water hammer in the Essential acceptable design by 2, 201 water was in to support installation by May 9, 2014. Some critical deficiencies Design Change Package (DCP) 13424, "Incorporation of ESW Water Hammer Concurrent Modification," were identified less than four weeks before scheduled implementation. testing of the headers containment coolers has been performed in the Mid-Cycle 20 Outage.

In addition to improving the material condition of the ESW System, WCNOC will aggressively address mitigation of the adverse effects of column closure water hammer in the ESW System.

Accordingly, WCNOC has changed the commitment to mitigate adverse effects of column closure water hammer in the ESW System to within acceptable design parameters by May 9, 2014 to a commitment to install a modification to mitigate the adverse effects of column closure water hammer in the ESW System prior to plant start-up from Refueling Outage 20, which is currently scheduled to start on March 7, 2015.
