Annual Report of 10 CFR 72.48 Changes, Tests, and Experiments Gentlemen:

Maine Yankee has contracted with NAC, International (CoC # 72-1015) to supply sixty (60)

NAC-UMS spent fuel storage systems. Maine Yankee intends to start loading fuel, July 2002, into the first of these storage canisters.

Maine Yankee has implemented a 72.48 program which became effective on April 5, 2001. The revised rule allows the C of C holder as well as the licensee to initiate 72.48 determinations. To date, under the revised rule, Maine Yankee as the licensee, has not initiated any 72.48 determinations in accordance with 10 CFR 72.48 (c)(2).

NAC, International has forwarded to Maine Yankee, in accordance with 10 CFR 72.48(d)(1),

72.48 determinations initiated by NAC applicable to the UMS systems being supplied to Maine Yankee. These records are available for review by the NRC.
