SUMMARY

OF JANUARY 16, 2025, CLOSED MEETING WITH FRAMATOME INC. AND THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION ON TOPICAL REPORT ANP-10350P, REVISION 0, FRAMATOME METHODOLOGY FOR BOILING WATER REACTORS:

EVALUATION AND VALIDATION OF APOLLO2-A/ARTEMIS-B (EPID L-2022-TOP-0038)

On January 16, 2025, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a closed meeting via Microsoft Teams with representatives from Framatome Inc. (Framatome). The purpose of the meeting was for the NRC staff to discuss questions with Framatome representatives on the review of Topical Report (TR) ANP-10350P, Revision 0, Framatome Methodology for Boiling Water Reactors: Evaluation and Validation of APOLLO2-A/ARTEMIS-B. The NRC staff questions focused on the following topic areas:

The differences in restrictions of acceptance traversing in-core probe statistics between ANP-10350P and MICROBURN-B2.

Determining how the eigenvalue of the core follow benchmarks is calculated.

Understanding how the beginning of cycle eigenvalue is assessed.

Clarification on uncertainty for a specific reactor cycle.

During the discussions, Framatome representatives provided clarifications and additional information regarding consistency of the models in the ARTEMIS-B fuel rod module with those of RODEX4 and the common sources of input data for both. The meeting provided the NRC staff with the clarification necessary to support their safety review of TR ANP-10350P, Revision 0 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML22186A071) and supplement (ADAMS Accession No. ML24057A358).
