AMENDMENT REQUEST FOR CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE NO. 9341 FOR THE MODEL NO. BRR PACKAGE - ACCEPTANCE FOR REVIEW
Dear Chris Backus:
By letter dated August 26, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML24239A866), Orano Federal Services LLC submitted an amendment request for the Model No. BEA Research Reactor (BRR) Package to add, as authorized contents, the low enriched uranium versions of the currently authorized high enriched uranium research reactor type ATR, MITR-II, and MURR fuels and (ii) encapsulated and segmented pressurized-water reactor fuel rod segments within a Rods-In-Tubes Canister basket. Orano Federal Services LLC also submitted a timely renewal request for Certificate of Compliance No. 9341.
This letter is to advise you that, based on our acceptance review, the application contains sufficient technical information. We established a schedule for the technical review of your amendment request which allows for the staff to issue a possible request for additional information by December 20, 2024, and, if no additional information is needed, the revised certificate of compliance and safety evaluation report will be issued by May 30, 2025, based on you responding to the request for additional information by February 28, 2025. The staff estimates that completing the safety review of this application will require approximately 650 staff hours.
Please reference Docket No. 71-9341 and Enterprise Project Identifier (EPID) No. L-2023-LLA-0090 in future correspondence related to this request.
