CHANGES TO THE WESTINGHOUSE AND FRAMATOME

ECCS EVALUATION MODELS AND PCT PENALTY ASSESSMENTS

to ULNRC-06861 Page 2of 2

1. WESTINGHOUSE

There have been no changes to the Westinghouse ECCS Large Break and Small Break Evaluation Models during the time period from March 2023 to March 2024.

2. FRAMATOME

Background

An error was identified in the default value used for fuel open porosity in the COPERNIC fuel model that is used in the Realistic Large Break LOCA (RLBLOCA) uncertainty analysis performed under Framatome EMF-210P-A Revision 3 methodology. When the fuel performance code COPERNIC was incorporated into the RLBLOCA methodology, the default value specified for the UO2 fuel open porosity was incorrectly selected from a different fuel type. The error in the fuel open porosity impacts the LOCA fuel initial conditio ns determined by COPERNIC and used in the RLBLOCA uncertainty analysis. An evaluation was conducted to determine the impact the error has on the affected RLBLOCA uncertainty analysis.

Estimated Effect

The evaluation determined that fuel model open porosity input error has no impact on Callaway's RLBLOCA peak clad temperature. Also, the Small Break LOCA methodology analysis, which uses EMF -2328, is not impacted as the error is unique to EMF-2103P-A Revision 3 applications.
