MEETING BETWEEN THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND THE ELECTRIC POWER RESEARCH INSTITUTE TO DISCUSS COMMENTS ON THE DRAFT SAFETY EVALUATION FOR EPRI REPORT 3002018337, USE OF DATA VALIDATION AND RECONCILIATION METHODS FOR MEASUREMENT UNCERTAINTY RECAPTURE: TOPICAL REPORT (EPID L-2021-TOP-0006)

On May 25, 2023, from 10:30 am to 12:15 pm, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff met with Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) representatives to discuss EPRI Technical Report 3002018337, Use of Data Validation and Reconciliation Methods for Measurement Uncertainty Recapture: Topical Report. The notice can be found at Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML23142A203. The list of attendees is provided in the enclosure.

The NRC staff held a public, observational meeting with EPRI representatives to discuss EPRI comments (ADAMS Accession No. ML23145A094) on the draft safety evaluation (SE for) EPRI Report 3002018337. The meeting began at 10:30 am and 12:15 pm. There were four NRC staff members, one Nuclear Energy Institute representative, one EPRI representative, six members of industry, and two members of the public. The meeting began with introductions of the NRC staff and EPRI representatives and contractors.

The NRC staff and EPRI representatives reviewed and discussed each one of EPRIs comments submitted prior to the meeting (ADAMS Accession No. ML23145A094). The NRC staff accepted and agreed to make many of the changes and edits to clarify the staffs position.

The majority of the discussion surrounded EPRIs response to Request for Additional Information No. 14. The result of the discussion is a common understanding of the staffs position.
