By letter dated January 27, 2021 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML21053A027), Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) submitted EPRI Report 3002018337, "Use of Data Validation and Reconciliation Methods for Measurement Uncertainty Recapture: Topical Report, to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for review and approval. EPRI Report 3002018337, November 2020, presents a process for using a mathematical Data Validation and Reconciliation (DVR) method for monitoring core thermal power and use of the methods for Measurement Uncertainty Recapture (MUR) Uprates.

The NRC staff in the Nuclear Methods and Fuel Analysis Branch (SFNB) in the Division of Safety Systems (DSS) and the Long-Term Operations and Modernization Branch (ELTB) in the Division of Engineering and External Hazards (DEX) is in the process of reviewing your application. Based on our review, the NRC staff has identified the attached draft requests for additional information (RAIs).

These requests for additional information were discussed with Kurt Crytzer of your staff and Frances Pimentel of Nuclear Energy Institute, and a mutually agreeable date for the response is no later than March 9, 2023.
