Certification of Permanent Removal of Fuel from the Reactor Vessel for Duane Arnold Energy Center

In accordance with Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 50.82(a)(1 )(i), NextEra Energy Duane Arnold, LLC (NEDA) provided the referenced letter, certifying that power operations ceased at Duane Arnold Energy Center (DAEC) on August 10, 2020.

Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.82(a)(1 )(ii) and 10 CFR 50.4(b)(9), NEDA hereby certifies that all nuclear fuel has been permanently removed from the DAEC reactor vessel and placed in the spent fuel pool. This activity was completed on October 12, 2020. NEDA understands and acknowledges that upon docketing this certification, in accordance with 10 CFR 50.82(a)(2), the DAEC 10 CFR Part 50 license no longer authorizes operation of the reactor or emplacement or retention of fuel into the reactor vessel.
