Transmitted herewith are two maps, one (designated as map D) depicting tho' location of certain onshore faults in the gene !.' vicinity of .the Diablo Canyon Unit 2 site and prepared by Mr. Waldron of the U. 8.

Geological Survey, and the other (designated as map B) depicting the location of certain offshore epicenters and prepared by Mr. Devine i of the U. 8. Coast and Geodetic Survey. 'l

'l The map depicting the location of onshore faults submitted by Mr. Vrana J (designated map C) does not show the location of the Nacimiento, East i Euasna, or West Euasna faults while map D does show these' faults' because we believe that this would be helpful to the board. Maps C and D agree ..

on the locetion of the Edna- fault except that on map D the Edna fault I extends to the vicinity of Essard Canyon in the northwest. This is in accordance with the AEC regulatory staff's testimony in the supple-mental report from the U. S.. Geological survey. In order to aid the ,

board in evaluating the testimony of. all of the parties we have included the so-called "Los osos" fault on map 9. The representation of the so-called "Los osos" fault on map D is based upon map C submitted by . i Mr. Vrana and shculd not be construed as an agreement by the staff that such a fault exists.

I The map submitted by Mr. Yrana depicting the location of offshore epicenters (designated as map A) emits the magnitude 5.9 event of l October 22, 1969 (listed fourth in the table attached to the supple.

mental report from the U. S. Coast and Goodatic Survey) but includes three events occurring since June 12, 1969, that were not included in the U. 3. Coast and Geodetic survey supplemental report.* The staff agrees that these three additional events have occurred, and has included them, along with the 25 events listed in the table attached to the supplemental report, in mar E.
