Region II
- 1. An INPO construction project evaluation began at the Catawaba facility on September'.27, 1982 and will continue for two weeks. This is a self-initiated evaluation which will be conducted by a 20-man team composed of Duke Power Company and TVA personnel with a TVA representative as team leader.
- 2. The Regional Administrator and other designated members of the Region II staff will be meeting with senior management of the Virginia Electric and Power Company to discuss a consultant's organizational review of VEPCO.
- 3. The Regional Administrator and the PRP and ETP Division Directors will be meeting at the Georgia Power Company Corporate Office with senior management representatives to discuss overview of INP0 pilot program at Plant Vogtle. ,
- 4. The Deputy Regional Administrator will be speaking to the ANS Chapter .

Briefing on Maxey Flats Buria'l Site StafffromOSP,RESandOCAbriefedSenathrHuddleston, Kentucky,and Congressional staff on September 27, 1982, on NRC research activities at'the Maxey Flats burial site. Senator Huddleston requested the briefing following an announcement on September 24,(1982, by the Kentucky Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Cabinet that stabilization of the site is needed to halt movement of water containing' radioactive materials. The announcement'said that the contaminated water does not present an inmediate health hazard. The Cabinet is the State agency which is responsible for maintaining this site which was shutdown in 1977.
