VERMONT YANKEE NUCLEAR SERVED MAR -91989 Docket No. 50-271-OLA POWER CORPORATION (Spent Fuel Pool Amendment)

(Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power )

-Station)

NRC STAFF MOTION FOR EXTENSION OF TIME IN WHICH TO FILE BRIEF ON APPEAL INTRODUCTION On March 6,1989, at approximately 2:00 p.m., NRC headquarters staff was dismissed because of inclement weather and deteriorating road condi-tions. Shortly thereafter, Staff counsel telephoned the Appeal Board to request an extension of time in which to file its brief otherwise due to be filed on March 7th, in view of the early dismissal and the unavailability of essential support personnel. Staff counsel was infonned that the relief would be granted on an appropriate showing of good cause.

Because of the early dismissal on March 6th and the liberal leave policy in effect on March 7th, the Staff was unable to complete its brief for filing on March 7th.
