I. INTRODUCTION On July 16, 1990, the State of ' Vermont filed a motion to add a late filed I contention in the above captioned matter. By stipulation filed July 20, 1990, the State of Vermont'and Vermont Yankee enlarged the time within which Vermont Yankee is obliged to respond to the motion from July 31,1990 to August 8,1990.

II. DISCUSSION 10 C.F.R. 5 2.714(c) provides, in part, that any party to a proceeding may file an answer to a supplement to a petition to intervene within ten days after service of the petition and that the NRC Staff may file such an answer within fifteen days after service l of the supplement. The Staff does not oppose the Board's approval of the stipulation l o.f the State of Vermont and Vermont Yankee regarding the enlargement of time within  !

4y III. MOTION Accordingly, for the reasons set forth above, pursuant to 10 C.F.R. 56 2.711(a) and 2.730, the NRC Staff requests the time within which the Staff may respond to the State .
