SUBJECT:
Beaver Valley Power Station Unit No. 2 Docket No. 50-412 Response to NRC Comments to Changes Made to FSAR Section 14.2, Initial Test Program
REFERENCE:
Letter from P. Tam, NRC to J. J. Carey, DLC; BVPS Unit 2 Interim Review Results of FSAR Amendment No.13 on Initial Test Program; March 11, 1987; with enclosure Gentlemen:
The enclosure to the referenced letter provides NRC comments to changes made to the Initial Test Program (ITP) by FSAR, Amendment 13.
Enclosure parts b, g, h and j contained comments to changes that the staff found unacceptable.
Resolution of these parts of the enclosure are contained here:
1.
Part b, the system test supervisor can only approve the substitution of data that has been collected during a completed test; 2.
Items 1, 2 and 3 of Part g, According to RG 1.68 the purpose of these tests is ".
to verify calculational models and accident analysis assumptions.
The same calculational models and computer codes have been used for numerous 3-loop plants including BVPS-2.
These tests have been deleted because the models and assumptions have been verified by tests at other 3-loop plants; 3.
Item 4 of Part 9, Computer Input and Printout Data Test, 50V-2.05A.01 has been deleted because documenting and testing of all computer points was completed within the Startup Proof Test Group Testing Pro-gram; 4.
Item 5 of Part g, Containment _ Instrument Air System Design Verifica-tion Test, S0V-2.34.04, has been deleted because the intent of Reg.
Hiifde G has been met by completing S0V-2.34.03, Containment Instru-ment Air System Test and SOV-2.34.05, Response of Plant Air-Operated Valves to Loss of Instrument Air Test; 8705180291 870512

Normal AC Power Distribution System Test, SOV-2.36A.01, has been deleted because this test is redundant to test--
ing already completed by the Startup Proof Test Section;
- 6.. Item 7 of Part g, Seismic Instrumentation Test, SOV-2.458.01, has been deleted because it is redundant = to Startup - Proof Test Procedure 2T-SRM-458.2.0,1; -Initial Startup Test of_ the Strong Motion Seismic Instrumentation System, which has been completed; 7.
Part h, RCCA Bank and Boron Worth Measurement, IST-2.01A.04, has been deleted because rod worth measurement will be taken using the Rod Swap Method. Rod worth measurements will be taken by incorporating the Rod Swap Measurements _ into IST-2.02.03, Low Power Physics Test.
