STAFF REQUIREMENTS - BRIEFING ON LA CROSSE REQUEST FOR AN EXEMPTION TO REDUCE PRIMARY PROPERTY VALUE INSURANCE, 2:00 P.M.,

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 18, 1986, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, D.C. OFFICE (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE)

The Commissicn was briefed by the staff on an exemption request to 10 CFR 50.54 (w) by Dairyland Power Cooperative to reduce the primary property value insurance for Lacrosse from $500 million to $180 million.

Commissioner Zech requested both generic and Lacrosse-specific assurances that the funds provided from property insurance be earmarked for property damage and cleanup, and that these funds be immune from creditors and bankruptcy.

The staff responded that it will assure on generic and Lacrosse-specific bases that the funds will be earmarked for damage and cleanup.

Chairman Palladino requested the Commission to vote on the staff's recommendation, as submitted in SECY-86-151.

(Subsequent to the meeting the Commission approved the staff's recommendation.)
