April 14,1987 MEMORANDUM At the prehearing conference commencing on April 21, 1987, the Licensee end NRC Staff, and other petitioners who wish to do so, should be prepared to address, inter alia, the following questions:

1. The effect on the instant application (if any) of the stipula-tion dated June 21, 1977, referenced by the State of Vern: ant on p. 3 of its " Introductory Statement and Contentions," dated March 30, 1987.

2. In order to provide the Board and parties / petitioners with a perspective on proposed contentions dealing with cooling adequacy, what is the range of center-to-center spacing of racks in boiling water reactor spent , fuel pools heretofore authorized by NRC.

These questions were conveyed to the parties and petitioner:s by telephone on April 14, 1987.
