Docket l'os. 50-424, 50-425 and 50-426, 50-427 The Georgia State Clearinghouse coordinated a State level response for the final cnvircamcatel imp::t t:tement prep;r:d for th: 350:: refer:r.: d doch:t numbers April 30, 1974.,
~ As a result of that review process,.the following statement was returned to your office with a request for a written response.
Radiation exposure levels were estimated for all game and fish species within and adjacent to the project area by using the safe levels for man and the domestic ccu.
Radiation tolerence levels may possibly vary for different species of game and fish and rray also be different than those documented for man or the domestic cow.
Therefore, definite guidelines for limits of radioactive exposure shculd be established for the majority of animals, birds and aquatic organisms within or adjacent to the project area.
The State realizes that under normal circumstar.ces a federal agency is not obligated to reply to corrtents made on a final enviror. mental statement.
- However, the State felt that the aforer.entioned was important enough that the Commission would deviate from the established proccdures.
The State on June 5,1974 received notification from the Commission that it had issued or intended to issue a construction permit that would authorize the development of the various support facilities necessary for the operaticn of the Vogtle plant.

The State Clearinghouse as in the review of the final statercent sent this letter out to the State agencies responsible for the enforcement of environmental matters.
The Office of Planning and Research, and the Environmental Protection Diyision, Department of Natural Resources, in their comments to the State Clearing-house, voiced concern that their comments on the final statement had not been answered before issuance of a permit.
In addition, it prepared additional comments on the Vogtle plant and these are an enclosure to this letter.
As in its review of the draft statement, the State respectfully requests the comments prepared by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources be answered by the Commission before the issuance of any permit.
Your cooperation on this matter will be greatly appreciated.
