This is in further response to your letter dated March 21, 1986, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, five categories of records regarding the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation's (NRR) filing systems prior to and following its reorganization. This also confinns your conference call on April 28, 1986, with Hazel Smith of NRR, and Mary Jean Pool of g staff, in which you were informed that for most of the branches NRR did not have fonnal file listings.

The records listed on Appendix B are being placed in the Public Document Room (PDR). Also being placed in the PDR are 34 pages of handwritten and typed NRR file descriptions subject to items C and E of your request.

This completes action on your request.

In late 1985/early 1986, the Commission's Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation underwent a significant reorganization.

In regards to this reorganization and the new NRR organization, and pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (10 C.F.R. Part 9), please make available at the Commission's Public Document Room at 1717 H Street, N.W., single copies of records in the following categories:

A.

Copies of the current organization charts for the overall Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation organization and for each division therein (i.e., PWR-A Division, PWR-B Division, BWR Division, Safety Review and Oversight Division, and Human Factors Technology Division).

B.

Lis ting (s) of the current staffing by name, position, division, and branch of each person employed by NRC who is assigned to any division of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation.

C.

Descriptions of all current document filing and, document control systems used within 'all divisions and branches within the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, including the name or designation assigned to the system and the physical location of the system and the documents contained therein.

D.

Copies of all instructions, memoranda, and any other type of commmunication to NRR employees concerning the retention of official agency records and personal (unofficial) records (this includes files both before and subsequent to the recent reorganization of NRR).

E.

Descriptions of all document filing and-document control systems in use witin the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation immediately prior to the recent NRR reorganization, including the name or designation assigned 11 d

s to the system and the current physical location of the system and the documents contained therein.

If upon or following receipt of this request there is any decision (whether written or orally communicated) made to destroy, discard, or otherwise make unavailable by any means, or to transfer to any other NRC organization any records contained in the above-mentioned filing or document control systems, this request shall be deemed to include a request to retain copies of each such record in existence as of the date of this request, and to make publicly available each such document.
