NINE MILE POINT, UNIT 2 - MODIFICATIONS TO THE MAIN STf'.M ISOLATION VALVE ACTUATION CONTROL SYSTEM (TAC N0. 64108) 1 The purpose of this memorandum is to forward the Electrical, Instrumentation and Control Systems Branch (EICSB) safety evaluation (Enclosure 1) related to recent design modifications made to the main steam isolation valve (MSIV) actuator control system at Nine Mile Point, Unit 2 (NMP-2).

Based on EICSB's review, it has been concluded that the modified MSIV actuation control system complies with the required regulatory acceptance crite-ia including the requirements of IEEE Standard 279 [10CFR 50.55 a(h)] .

and General Design Criterion 21. Refer to the enclosed safety evaluation for l details related to this issue.

This effort completes E!CSB's action on TAC No. 64108. The ElCSB evaluation of the licensee's performance (SALP input) is provided in Enclosure 2.
