Mr. Wayne Shafer Emergency Preparedness Section United States Nuclear Regulatory Commiasion Region III 799 Roosevelt Road Glen Ellyn, Illinois 60137
Dear Mr. Shafer:
As requested in a telephane conversation on September 23, 1985, between Mr. Thomas Ploski and Mrs. Jennifer Scott-Wasilk, this letter is to pro-vide a status update on the Emergency Plan Training of the Shift Techni-cal Advisors (STA's) at the Toledo Edison Company Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit No.
1.
Presently, the STA staff is receiving the same training as the Emergency Duty Officers (ED0's).
However, we no longer intend to have them auto-matica11y assume the Interim EDO function from the Shift Supervisor.
The STA's will receive the EDO training primarily for the purpose of assisting the Shift Supervisor in fulfilling his Emergency Plan respon-sibilities.
The STA will assume the Interim EDO function only if neither the Shift Supervisor nor the. Assistant Shift Supervisor is in the Control Room and capable of perfortring those functicns.
Sincerely, OMw JW:JSW:nif cc:
