SUBJECT:

LILC0 REQUEST FOR SHOREHAM EXERCISE In a letter dated flovember 14, 1984 from John D. Leonard, LILCO, to Harold R.

Denton, NRC, LILCO proposed conducting a full scale exercise for Shoreham during the week of February 11, 1985 and requested the NRC to fomard the LILCO pro-posal to the Feceral Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

In a memorandum dated December 19, 1984 from Edward L. Jordan, NRC, to Richard W. Krimm, FEMA, NRC forwarded the LILCO letter to FEMA and requested that FEMA take the lead in any preliminary can' sideration of the matter of the proposed exercise. Also fomarded to FEMA were letters to the NRC from Governor Cuomo and Suffolk County opposing the conduct of the exercise proposed by LILCO.

The NRC responded to these letters on January 11, 1985.
