CLAR!FICATION OF CALIERATION. CCi.TROLS

. accordance with G. Lainas' namorancum of Octcber 24, 1952, the ;A branch bs raviewed CPSL's clarificatien of calibra:icn controls for measuring and
m. equipment including plant installed peccess instrun.entation.

This

..arlfication is cescribec in CP&L's letter of October 3,1934, to H. Denton a r. : ccncerns a calibration recuirement in Sectica 5.2.16 "lieasuring and Test E:uipment" cf ANSI NIE.7-1976 "Acriinistrative Centrais ar.d Quality Assurance-fcr ne Operational Phase of Nuclear Fewer Plancs."

CF-:.L believes that the requirement stated in the second sentence cf the seccnd itragrcpn cf Section 5.:'.16 which reaos as follows:

" hen calibration, tasting,

t. c her measurir.g devices are found to be out of calibration, an evaluaticn still be nade and documsnted concerning the validity of previcus tests anc the a:captability of devices previously tested fecm the time of the previous calicration" is not ap;11 cable to plant installed process instrum:ntation.

TP2 CA Eranch has evaluatad and discussed CF&L's pcsiticn with Den Grinkcan cf the 5tandardizaticn and Special Projects Branch and with Charlie Uprign:

r d Ai Selisle cf F.egica II.

Also, CP&L was involved in a conference call

- ':h F.egion II, ten Brinkm.n, and John Gilray in order to gain a be::er s..ccrstanding of their pctiticns and allow them the opportunity tc hear our
