Dear Congressman Lent:

This replies to your September 27 letter enclosing a copy of Mr. Herbert Jaffe's September 15 letter to you.

The Nuclear Regulatory Comission's

" requirements and testing procedures...for the diesel generators for emergency power at Lilco's Shoreham nuclear power plant..." are set forth in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulatiori's Standard Review Plan--specifically chapters eight and nine.

Copies of the Standard Review Plan are on file in the Public Docurent Room; however, in order to be more responsive to Mr. Jaffe's request, I am enclosing copies of those two chapters with this letter.

If you need additional information, please let me know.
