LaSalle Nuclear Power Station Units 1 & 2 LaSabe Station Security Plan NRC Docket Nos. 50-373 50-374 TAC Nos. 65376/65377 Exemotion Request Commonwealth Edison Company (Comed) requests, in accordance with the provisions of Title 10CFR Part 73.5, " specific exemptions", an exemption from certain requirements of 10CFR 73.55, " Requirements for Physical Protection of Licensed Activities in Nuclear Power Reactors Against Radiological Sabotage" for LaSalle Nuclear Power Station Units 1 & 2.
The basis for this exemption is to allow the use of a hand geometry biometric system to control unescorted access into the Protected Area of LaSalle Nuclear Power Station in conjunction with allowing the photograph identification badges /keycards offsite. This process is scheduled to begin on or before April 9,1996 pending approval of this exemption.
The enclosure details the hand geometry biometric system, the process which will be utilized in employing this system and the proposed changes to the station security plan.
This enclosure contains Safeguards Information which must be protected from public disclosure pursuant to 10CFR 73.21.
