BABCOCK & WILCOX REPORT NU1GER BAW 1403. REV.1. JUNE 1973.
"INVESTICATION OF MAJOR COMPONEIC WELD RECORDS."
e The subject report has been reviewed and it is noted that the lots of l
70XX and 80XX veld fill'er metal with undocumented mechanical properties, l
have satisfactory documentati,on of their chemistry.
Experience has j
demonstrated that the tensile and impact values of 70XX and 80XX weld metals almosc always exceeds the ASTM minimum requirements.
j it is concluded that there is s9me assurance that the Therefore, l
mechanical properties of these lots of 70XX and 80tC materials will be j
We reconnend no further action on this vithin acceptable tolerances.
J matter solely on the basis that removal and replacecent of the weld i,
metal in the completed vessels would at this time be more deleterious than acceptance as is.
Since the documentation of the c.echanical properties is a requirement of the code to which these major co=ponents were desigt;ed and fabricated, l
B&W should be required to pursue this matter further with the cognizant l
code counittee.
