SUBJECT:

MIDLAND NUCLEAR: ESTIMATE OF TIME P.EQUIRED TO COMPLETE REVIEW AND PREPARE TESTIMONY WITH RESPECT TO PROPOSED REMEDIAL ACTIONS Please see your attached memorandum dated April 24, 1981. At the prehearing conference of April 27, 1981 I reported to the Licensing Board that Applicant expected to give us Part 2 on May 15, 1981 and that we would therefore "have a position" by August 15, 1981.

I also stated that it would take us a month after August 15, 1981 to prepare testimony.

We will also need to file testimony by September 15, 1981 by Frank Rinaldi (Structural), Tony Cappucci (Mechanical) and Joseph Kane (Geotechnical).

The Licensing Board Chairman has asked me to advise the Board (on July 7,1981 - the first day of the evidentiary hearing) whether the Staff still expects to be able to file its testimony by September 15, 1981.

Please let me know if we will be able to file timely.
