MIDLAND PLANT - ESTIMATE FOR COMPLETING REVIEW AND PREPARING i
TESTIMONY ON PROPOSED REMEDIAL ACTIONS In response to William Paton's memorandum of June 18, 1981 to you on the above subject, we feel a distinction should be made in the estimates to be forwarded to OELD between completing the review of proposed remedial actions and the completion of Part 2 of the seismic study (possible ground motion amplification through the fill).
GES estimates our portion of the review on Part 2 will be completed by August 15,19D1 and our testimony prepared for filing by September 15, 1981.

Because Consumers has recently modified their proposed remedial measures for the Service Water Structure and Auxiliary Building our review of these structures for other than seismic considerations can not be completed by August 15, 1981.
The schedule indicated by Consumers for submitting design infonnation on the changed remedial measures at be May 5 - 7, 1981 meeti$Ig)was the following:

In addition; our work during the months of July and August will be heavily impacted by the demands of the ASLB hearing and the resolution of Staff's concerns with 1
Consumers on the Diesel Generator Building, Cooling Pond Embankment, Borated Water Storage Tanks and the Underground Utilities.
Assuming that Consumers is successful'in meeting the above anticipated submittal dates for the preliminary designs of the Service Water Structure and Auxiliary I
Building, we would estimate our review for these structures would be completed i
by the end of October 1981. Following the completion of our review we would t
estimate approximately one month would be needed to prepare our testimony.
