RSc Approval: STs48 PROCEDURE TO CHANGE CENTRAL IRRADIATOR The purpose of this procedure is to remove the centralirradiator unit currently in core and return to a previously tested core configuration by inserting another central irradiator unit and moving fuel and/or heavy water elements.
1.
Complete the reactor checkout.
2.
Raise the safety rod.
3.
Remove (Cl-1, Cl-7, etc.) corresponding to core configuration number
. (Note: this is a negative reactivity insertion).
4.
Transfer fuel and/or heavy water elements to be consistent with core configuration number.
(A licensed reactor operator must be at console during all positve reactivity insertions.)

Perform rod drop procedure (Form NEL-003) to insure operation within technical specifications.
