I Cear Mr. Ahearne P
I am deeply concerned about the U.S. energy crisis both as an informed citizen and as an employee of an oil company. It seems incongruous that in the face of our energy problem, we have spurrned an option that would at least alleviate our situatien; TMI-mit 1, undamaged, is net permitted to operate.
l If ':MI-l is indeed mechanically safe to operate and if the personnel and procedures are on hand to operate safely, then I would urge you to allow no further delay in returning this source of energy to full operation-al status. To do otherwise would be contrary to the best interests of our country; it would also appear to be a vindictive and punitive action against j
M et Bi., it's employees, and its stockholders.
In addition to this specific action, let as stress the urgency in getting on with the safe development of our nuclear energy capability as quickly 6 as possible. Thank you for your efforts to ensure a safe, viable, opera-ting nuclear industr1.
very truly yours, i
