OCT t 31978 Docket No: 50-322 l l

. 1 APPLICANr: Long Island Lighting Company (LILCD) l FACILITY: Shoreham Nuclear Power Station SUMECT: SIDNARY OF MEETING HELD Gi OCI0BER 6,1978 A meeting was held in Bethesda, Mary 1cd with representatives of LILCO and Stone 6 Webster to discuss LILCD's proposed Mark II Contain-ment " Closure" Program. A list of attendees is shown in Enclosure 1.

The two major issues discussed during the meeting were the applicant.'s plan to use Tee-Quencher loads rather than Rams Head loads and their

( plan to combine CBE and SRV loads by SRSS rather than Absolute Sun.

In previous meetings with the applicant, they had indicated that the design basis load definition for Shoreham would be derived from the .

Gennan Tee-Quenchar test data. At this meeting, LIL Q stated that they will now use 'the Susqrmhmm load specification, with one exception, as the design basis for Shoreham. LILCD stated that the Susquehanna load specification will be more conservative than their previous design basis. The one exception that Shoreham plans to take to the Susquehanna loads is that LILCD assumes that the SRV discharges will take place sequentially rather than simultaneously. This new load specification and the test data to support it will be provided for our review in the Phase 2 portion of the Shoreham " Closure" program.

, LILCD stated that they will analy::e the ecmbination of the CBE and

,s SRV discharge loads by the SRSS method. They will not do this

~

analysis by combining the two loads using the Absolute Sun method.

'Ihey stated that the Absolute Sum method is not epwytiate for this cortination of events. LILCO plans to justify their use of SRSS through the generic efforts of the Mark II owners group.
