SUMMARY

OF THE MEETING REGARDING SHOREHAM NUCLEAR POWER STATION TEMPORARY RADWASTE SYSTEM DATE AND TIME: Monday, November 23, 1992 - 10:00 a.m.

LOCATION: One White Flint North 11555 Rockville Pike Rockville, MD 20852 ATTENDEES: NE Shoreham C. L. Pittiglio L. Britt L. Bell T. Jernigan D. Fauver D. Stark A. Rauf G. Burtz Yankee Atomic J. Grant R. Meller

SUMMARY

The licensee described their anticipated decommissioning strategy for the liquid radwaste system, use of a temporary liquid radwaste system, and decommissioning of the spent fuel pool cleanup system at the Shoreham Nuclear Generating Station. A copy of the briefing package is enclosed.

The staff stated that use of the existing-liquid radwaste system has been l approved by the staff, and- that no additional system approvals are necessary, t

as long as applicable portions of the approved system are used, lhe staff requested that the licensee provide a schedule that would indicate when the proposed temporary liquid radwaste system would be required. The staff l

i pointed out to the licensee that they have the option of referencing an NRC approved topical report that describes a temporary liquid radwaste system that l would meet their needs.

l In addition, the staff recommended that the licensee describe the proposed changes associated with anticipated spent fuel pool cleanup system decommissioning, including the need for any changes to the technical specifications _ that would result from the use of a temporary spent fuel pool cleanup system.
