15 SEP 1971 Gentlemen:

The Naval Undersea Research and Development Center (NURDC) is planning to conduct marine environmental tests with small quantities of irradiated, reactor fuel elements. The attached application therefore requests that AEC license SNM 1154 be amended to autho-rize the possession and use of two special nuclear material fuel segments, unclad, each containing approximately 0.555 gram of U-235 and one curie of fission products.

This Command concurs with the attached applicatiott and requests that the license be amended accordingly.
