The Commission
- was briefed by the staff on a method for prioritization and resolution of generic items as stated in SECY-81-513.
The method employs numerical safety benefit vs. cost calculations to augment technical judgement on the relative importance of the" issues.
The Commission expressed concern about the difficulties of designing and implementing such a prioritization system but noted that it would be an improvement over the present method.
The staff advised the Commission that initially it would prioritize the 52 Generic Safety Issues and select the issues to be addressed in FY 1982 and 1983 from that list.
The Commissioners present voiced no objection.
