Narrative

Report for LER 50-321/1981-069 While Unit I was recovering from a scram, the water level in the suppression pool was approaching the upper limit for normal operation.

Because of operation of safety relief valves, the water was hot and the RHR system was operating in the suppression cooling mode.

Due to the perturbation caused from this, both level indicators were oscillating and level was hard to determine. When the level stabilized, it was three tenths of an inch below acceptable limits.

Water level was innediately restored to normal limits by normal makeup procedure.

This is not a repetitive occurrence and there was no effect on public health or safety due to this event.
