Narrative

Repor t for LER 50-321/1981-044 On'5/6/81 while Unit I was in cold shutdown, the floor drain cample tank was lined up for discharge.

Af ter approximately one (1) minute

! of~ discharge, the 11guld radwa'ste radiation monitor trip alarmed and i

. closed the discharge-to-river valvo.

An investigation revealed that the wrong gamma spectrum for the liquid waste being discharged had been used in the spectrometer / computer system.

Therefore, contrary to Environmental Tech Spec.

2.1.2.b., eighty (80) garlons of liquid radwaste, 19.9 microcuries, were released without prior analysis.

limits were No Environmental Technical Specification-concentrations exceeded as a result of the release and there were no effects upon the public health and safety.

This is a

repetitive occurrence and was last reported on LER 50-321/1981-011.
