Narrative

Report for LER 50-321/1981-019 On March 5,1981, IE11-K81A was found to actuate at 529.55 seconds. C7 March 10,1981, IE11-K81B was found to actuate at 562 seconds.1E11-K31A&B are Agastat Pneumatic Time Delay Relays that serve as the LPCI Valve Selection Timers.

The plant was in cold shutdown when these events occurred. Tech' Spec Section 3.2-5, Item 9, requires actuation at 310 minutes (600 seconds).

1 The cause of.this event has been attributed to setpoint drift.

The instruments were recalibrated and returned to service immediately upon

. discovery. Surveillance t st was performed with satisfactory results.

A generic review revealed no inherent problems.

This type of Agastat Relay has not previously been prone to setpoint drift problems.

This type of relay is also used for this service on Hatch Unit II.
