Narrative

Report for LER 50-321/1981-005 With the unit in steady state operation at 1926 MWt, IT47-R612, Drywell Temperature Recorder, was found to be inoperative.

Technical Specifications Table 3.2-11, Item 5, requires two operable channels.

Redundant recorder

~

1T47-R613 was operable, but the minimum number of channels was not met.

Plant operation was not affected as a result of this event.

The health and safety of the public was not affected.

This is a repetitive event as last reported on Reportable Oc.currence Report No. 50-321/1980-121.

The cause of this event has been attributed to component failure.

The-failure was due to mechanical misalignment.

The cam fol. lower was not in contact with the main programing cam.

The cam followerfwas' re-adjusted to maintain contact with the cam.

The recorder now prints properly.

The unit is now in full compliance with the requirements.

A generic review revealed no inherent problems.

This particular failure mode has not been evident before. This type of Taylor recorder is not used on Hatch. Unit II.
