4 LER No.81-001 Omaha Public Power District j Fort Calhoun Station Unit No.1 Docket No. 05000285 ATTACHMENT NO. 1 Safety Analysis The subject transmitter, FT-236, is a Foxboro M-637 and is used to indicate high pressure safety injection pump flow through the auxi-liary pressurizer spray system during long term core cooling operations.

The transmitter provides indication only.

The transmitter is being reported as lacking qualification due to the fact that a complete materials list is not available to determine the radiation qualification and qualified life. However, based on the limited materials list available and transmitter construction, the Dis-trict would expect the transmitter to withstand the post accident high radiation environment.

Should FT-236 fail, the qualified high pressure loop injection flow transmitters, the charging pump header pressures transmitter-located in a " normal" room environment, and HPSI pump flow curve could be used to determine the flow to the pressurizer sprays. Since -

flow indication will not be required until about 24 hours2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
following an accident, the proposed measures will be adequate to insure a safe shutdown.
