e INTRODUCTION The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is equipping an Incident Response Center (IRC) in the East-West Tower Building in Bethesda, Maryland. Telephone communications will be required as an integral part of operations.
CENTREX FEATURES i
The following Centrex II features, which are available on the NRC Centrex, will be utilized.

OTHER ' FEATURES Additional features to be provided by the telephone company are listed below.
Multichannel Voice Recording Interface f
.The 18 lines listed in Table 2 for station YY are to interface with multichannel recorders. The recorders I
will be provided by the Government.
Single Channel Voice Recording Jacks A modular jack will be provided on each subscriber set for plugging in a single channel recorder.
In addition, jacks will be provided on two key strips (stations N and P, 1

Starsets and appropriate jacks will be provided on selected subscriber sets (.=ce Table 2). When the Starset is plugged in, the handset will be disabled.
Conference Bridges i
No conference bridges other than those currently available to the NRC will be required.
Microphone / Speaker System Interface A 4-wire line will be provided to interface with a government-supplied microphone / speaker system (see Stations Z and WW, Table 2). The Centrex " Automatic Privacy Exclusion" will be provided for this line.
Speake rphone One speakerphone will be provided (station B, see Table 2).
Manual Intercom System
~
A manual intercom system to be controlled by the Operations Room Assistant (ORA) will be provided. A common talk path will be terminated at each subscriber set. The ORA will be able to signal any subscriber position by pushing a button which causes a green light located near the subscriber set to flash. The ORA will also be able to operate two audible signals (one in the Operations Room and one in the Executive Room).

Slow-scan TV Interface An interface for a Government-supplied slow-scan TV system will be provided (see Station ZZ, Table 2).
Restricted Lines Certain designated lines will be restricted to internal NRC calls only.

i The telephone stations and their locations are indicated in Figure 1.
Table 1 associates stations with IRC operational positions. The location of telephone equipment in the IRC may change; therefore, the telephone installation should afford some flexibility for future change,s and expansion.
STATION DESCRIPTIONS All subscriber sets shall be beige Slimline telephones with Touchtone dialing. Station equipment and corresponding key assignments are listed in Table 2.
LINE ASSIGNMENTS Table 3 shows the assignment of each line to subscriber sets.
Lines 1 to IS are outside lines assigned to the main rotary off the NRC emergency number.
- ._nes 20 and 21 are outside lines assigned to s.n emergency number for access to the IRC by selected individuals through a separate rotary. Lines 22 to 28 are outside lines not assigned to citScr rotary.
