APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Duke Power Company License Nos. CPPR-116 Catawba Nuclear Station Based on the NRC inspection December 17-19, 1979, certain of your activities were apparently not conducted in full compliance with NRC requirements as indicated below. These items have been categorized as described in correspondence to you dated December 31., 1974.
As required by 10 CFR 50, Appendix B, Criterion XIII ar.d as implemented by Duke Power Company (DPC) Topical Report " Duke 1-A", Section 17, Paragraph 17.1.13 measures shall be established to control the handling, storage...and preservation of material and equipment... to prevent damage....
Contrary to the ab)ve, on December 19, 1979. No procedures were established to prohibit rigging from installed equipment or materials. The following examples were noted:
(1) A 14-inch (.iameter stainless steel piping assembly in the reactor coolant system was supported by a carbon steel chain in direct contact with the r.ssembly, anchored to a cable tray support.
(2) A 10-inch diameter piping assembly in the reactor coolant syst m was supported by chainfalls anchored to a cable tray support.
This is an infraction.
