f. vent _ Description During routine plant operation the Aerated Maste Evaporator concentrates tank was pressurized with air at 100 PSI. A rupture of approximately five feet by six feet occurred in the tank. The contents of the tank were contained within the radwaste system.

Cause Description The cause of the rupture.was the application of air at 100 PSI to the aerated wastes evaporator concentrates tank and the failure of the tank vent due to a blochage in a tee in the unvalved vent line. The concentrates tank was designed for 15 PSI. The air was being applied to clear a line in order to effect a weld repair. Subsequently, 'a study of the aerated waste system has been con-ducted and reported to the !!.R.C. via W. G. Counsil letter of May 21, 1979. The study concluded that it is unnecessary to repair or replace the aerated waste evaporator. Therefore, it is not necessary to repair or replace the tank.
