During normal operation personnel noted that the lubricating oil recirculating pump associated with the Emergency Diesel Generator "C" was noisy.

In order to effect repair Emergency Diesel Generator "C" was declared inoperable.

In accordance with Technical Specifications Appendix A, Paragraph 3.9.B.3 the power source for energency AC power bus 10500 was transferred from the normal station transformer to the reserve station transformer and Emergency Diesel Generator's "B" and "D" were veri fied operable by completing Operations Surveillance Test F-ST-9D ti tled "EDG Inoperable Test / Loss of 115 KV Power." Therefore the event did not represent any significant hazard to the public health and safety.

The source of the noise was determined to be the result of a bad bearing in the electric motor which drives the recirculating oil pump.

Following replacement of the motor, Emergency Diesel Generator "C" was verified operable and returned to service in the standby mode approximately twelve (12) hours later.
