TASK FCRCE ON OPERATIONAL DATA ANALYSIS AND EVALUATION On April 24, 1979, I established a Task Fcrce en Operaticnal Data Analysis and Evaluation. As a first scep the Task Fcrce has develcped, and I have approved, the encic~ sed expanded charter and schedule of activities.

TASK FCRCE ON OPERATIONAL SAFETY DATA ANALYSIS AND EVALUATION CHARTER:
Examine NRC analysis and evaluation activities associated with cperational data and rec:mmend actions which will permit NRC to best use existing operational data base and data systems to promptly identify potential safety concerns.
The primary focus is on operating pcwer reacters, althcugh rec mmendations for evalua:icn of cperational data fr:m other types of facilities will ce censidered.
Specific Cbjectives:
1.
Define pr:mpt acticns that will establish a structured evaluation process to identify potential safety concerns or trends from pcwer reactor ::erational or empirical data.
This process shculd utilize the exis:ing organizaticnal capabilities of.1RC.
2.
Assure that the process for review and evaluation of ccerational data emphasi:es the imccr:ance of pr =pt regulatery. tions price to c:= pie:e evaluation of potential safety concerns.
3.
Rec mmend a divisien of responsibilities within the NRC cffices wi:h regard to generic :: cila:icn, verification, review, analysis and evaluati:n cf :: era:icnal data.
