April 5, 1976 NOTE TO SAUL LEVINE On March 10, 1976, Gary Bennett issued a m.emorandun entitled, " Human Reliability Study," which summarized some of the efforts that are underway on the subject of human reliability as aoplied to nuclear pcher plants.
I should like to reccmmend that we establish a meeting as scan as possible to discuss this issue.
At that time, we should as a minimum-(1) establish who should have the overall responsibility for conducting research in this area; (2) understand.inat technical assistance efforts are currently underway within the NRC on the subject; and (3) to sccce the coordinated research and technical assistance needs in this area.
!.ould suggest that in addition to the recipients of this memorancum that a representative from IE, SD and MIPC should be invited to carticica:e in the meeting.
