January 07, 2019 Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Unit 2 & Unit 3 - Initial Information Request (Part 2) for the Upcoming Phase IV License Renewal Inspection Inspection Procedure: IP 71003, Post-Approval Site Inspection for License Renewal (Phase IV)

Inspection Dates: February 18 - 22, 2019 (in office prep)

February 25 - March 1, 2019 (on-site)

Inspection Report: 05000237/2019010 ; 05000249/2019010 Lead Inspector: Jorge Corujo-Sandin (Lead), Reactor Inspector Mr. Walker, thanks for the information provided on January 4, 2019. Using the information requested, the inspector(s) will select a sample of Aging Management Programs (AMPs) for review. The lead inspector will inform you of the AMP selections by January 22, 2019. Please provide the information requested below to the NRC Region III Office in care of the lead inspector by February 15, 2019. The information can be provided in hard copy or electronic format (preferred).

A. Information Requested for each AMP Selected for Review (As Applicable)

(1) Program basis documents and administrative procedures describing key program attributes such as program objectives, scope, detection and monitoring methods, administrative controls, acceptance criteria, corrective actions, and scope expansion requirements (2) Implementing procedures for program activities (e.g. visual examination procedures, ultrasonic examination procedures, maintenance procedures, system walkdowns, etc.)

(3) Updated license renewal scoping drawings showing the SSCs within the scope of the AMP (4) Gap analyses performed (if any) to assess the differences between the current AMP and the recommendations in the latest revision of NUREG-1801, Generic Aging Lessons Learned (GALL), and subsequent Interim Staff Guidance (5) Copy of evaluations performed for applicable external and internal operating experience (OE) issues associated with license renewal. This request is limited to OE items issued after entering the PEO.

(6) Description of instances where examination scope expansion was required based on the initial examination of a SSC for license renewal. Please describe the logic to select the scope expansion, and any resulting changes to the AMP.

(7) For each selected AMP provide a list of all components and structures covered by the AMP.

(8) For each selected AMP provide a list of the top 10 most risk significant plant components or structures. Provide a brief explanation describing the bases used to determine the risk significance for the selected component or structure.

B. Information Requested for each License Renewal Structure and/or Component (As Applicable)

Please, provided the information requested below for the top 10 most risk significant plant components or structures listed above in section A.(8).

(1) The scope and frequency of activities (i.e. inspection, sampling, testing, etc.) used to manage the aging of the item.

(2) Completed Work Orders (WOs) for the most recent aging management activities performed, including associated inspection and testing reports, as applicable. This request is limited to work performed in the PEO or last two inspections, whichever is greater.

(3) Structure or component specific evaluation for monitoring and trending of aging effects.

(4) Description of instances where examination of the structure or component was eliminated or deferred.

(5) Description of instances where examination scope changes were required based on limitations encountered during the examination.

(6) Description of instances where examination scope changes were required based on results of the previous examination.
