No: 18-028 July 2, 2018 CONTACT: David McIntyre, 301-415-8200 NRC to Hold Public Meeting For Comments On Oyster Creek Nuclear Power Plant Decommissioning Activities Report The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will hold a public meeting July 17 in Lacey Township (Ocean County), N.J., to discuss and seek comments on a decommissioning roadmap report for the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generation Station.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., at Lacey Township Community Hall, located at 101 N. Main St. in Forked River, N.J.

Exelon, which owns the Lacey facility, submitted the Oyster Creek Post-Shutdown Decommissioning Activities Report to the NRC on May 21. It includes a description of the companys plans to place the plant into SAFSTOR, or long-term storage, prior to beginning dismantlement work.

A copy of the report is available on the NRC website in the electronic documents section, ADAMS accession number ML18141A775.

NRC will accept public comments on the report until Sept. 10. A Federal Register notice provides information on how to submit comments in writing.

Oyster Creek is scheduled to permanently cease operations in September.
